Phoenix come into the game on the backs of an 8-0 drubbing by Europa F.C while United will seek three more vital points after the 3-0 win over Glacis last weekend. Both teams come into the game missing key players in key positions and the team who copes better with these absences might come out on top.

This is United’s penultimate game of the season and the stakes riding on it are high. Our last game against Phoenix proved a tough encounter and all efforts are being made to get the team ready for a tough and uncompromising match. Kick off Saturday 26th May at 16:00

Lincoln Red Imps finally crowned themselves champions on Saturday evening after an emphatic win over Lions. They are well deserved Champions having been the most regular side throughout the season and well deserved congratualtions are in order. St Joseph’s kept the fight for third place going after beating Mons Calpe 4-2 despite the Calpeans taking the lead in the first minute. Gib Utd did what they had to do and saw off Glacis United in the Friday Night Football. Elsewhere Man 62 were mathematically relegated after the game against Phoenix while Europa surprisingly went down to a resilient Lynx F.C. in perhaps the result of the round.

We enter the last but one round of fixtures as the sesaon draws to a close. Cup Finalists Mons are the first side to face Lincoln as Champions while Europa face relegated Man 62; the Green and Blacks play their game in hand against Phoenix on Monday. Gib Utd subsequently meet Phoenix on Saturday afternoon while St Joseph’s face Lynx F.C. Glacis vs Lions closes the Round. Incidentally the Rock Cup Final is played this Sunday as well in what is going to be a weekend jam packed of football.

United come into the game with morale sky high following the win over Lincoln. It came at a price however with Bosio and Carrasco picking up costly bookings. Marco has resumed full fitness and the squads morale was further bouyed by news of Roman’s quicker than expected recovery from injury and he may rejoin the fold soon.

Glacis also come into the game in good form after getting 6 past Man 62. Cerezo bagged himself 4 in that game but both Sidi and defensive stalwart Cano will be absent due to suspension. A win is a must to keep third place; kick off Friday 20:30.

Key fixtures were played over the last few days that may yet determine who finishes in what position. Europa beat St Joseph’s 4-1 while United responded to the Saint’s defeat by defeating Lincoln 3-1. Mons Calpe continued their excellent run of form by defeating Lions 2-0, though the goals came late on in the game. Phoenix saw off Lynx to earn some breathing space but in the other match Glacis United relegated Manchester 62 by thumping them 6-0 and sending the Red Devils to the Second Division.

Next week sees United facing Glacis United and a win is imperative to make our win this week valid. St Jospeh’s on the other hand meet Mons Calpe with the Calpeans with aspirations on third place of their own; incidentally the Saints play their game in hand on Monday. Lincoln will seek three points that takes them closer to the title against Lions while Europa face off against Lynx. Relegated Man 62 and Phoenix close the round.

Despite a mid round blip Lincoln continue leading the pack and reasserted their dominance in a 6-0 drubbing of Manchester 62 on Monday. Yet they have dropped points recently and both teams approach the match in good form.

United are hopeful Meireles is back following illness but Farinha returns to the fold folowing a one match ban for accumulation; Elghobashy will also be pushing for a start. With St Joseph’s facing Europa on Thursday the emphasis will be on bettering or equalling St Joseph’s result to keep the fight for third place alive.

Kick off 20:30 Saturday evening.
