It was with great sadness and reluctance that President Paul Collado accepted the resignation of manager Randal Aldorino this afternoon. Randal cited personal reasons for his stepping down and in no way was his decision based on the outcome of the Scorpions match. He was frank and honest in his reasons and the club reluctantly accepted. He leaves as a friend and supporter of the Club.
Randal has worked tirelessly since the relaunch of Gibraltar United in the summer and is the main architect of our current league position. He guided the club through its initial matches and went unbeaten for 13 games in the league. He worked very hard with his players and coaches and he leaves with the gratitude and respect of all.
He attended today’s training session at Europa Point and was met with a standing ovation from players, officials and coaches. He said some words of inspiration and stated his desire to remain linked to the club with which he has developed a deep affinity in his time with us. Paul presented Randal with a fine bottle of his favourite tipple and expressed his thanks on behalf of all as well as ensuring Randal he would have some role in the future, whenever he was ready to return. Kevin Eagle also decided to step down as Assistant Manager.
The manager’s mantle now passes onto Ian Mañasco who will be assisted by Joe Falero and Stephan Langtry. Randal, indeed, was vociferous in his support for Ian and his staff and urged the players to give that final push to land the 2nd Divsion title and promotion. Randal many thanks for all your efforts and we will see you in the Red and White once again soon
